Donald Levi Barker, 83, of Hutchinson, died May 15, 2026, at Diversicare of Hutchinson. He was born October 13, 1942, in Sterling, to Kenneth T. and Ada I. (Newcomer) Barker.

Don graduated from Quinter High School and attended Hutchinson Community College and Wichita State University. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965. Don worked as an instrument and electrical technician in the oil and gas exploration industry, retiring from Pioneer Natural Resources after many years of dedicated service. He enjoyed attending auctions, antiquing, camping, fishing, playing Pitch and Hearts with family and friends, and spending time outdoors doing yardwork.

On September 11, 1966, Don married Debra Jane “Debby” Hayes, in Valley Center. They shared nearly 60 years of marriage.

Don is survived by: his loving wife, Debby; children, Brent Barker (Itzel) of Hallandale Beach, FL, Lisa, Shonda Arpin of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Solay, Avi, Daniel, David, Dakota, Katie, Brooke; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Norval.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2026, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Anita Crane officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors conducted by McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard.

The service will be livestreamed and can be viewed here beginning at 9:45 a.m. the day of the service.

Friends may sign his memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, with the family to receive friends from 9-10 a.m. the day of the service at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Gentiva Hospice or Redemption Animal Rescue, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
