Donald David Derr, 52, died July 26, 2010, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.

He was born Oct. 14, 1957, in Manhattan, Kansas, the son of Donald Dale and Iola Marie Swank Derr.

He graduated from Atchison High School in 1975 and he then attended Kansas State University where he was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi. He worked as an electrical engineer for both Doskocil's and Collins and was co-owner of McGraw's.

He is survived by his parents, Donald Dale and Iola Marie Derr; sister, Debby McNaughton and husband Steve; brother, Jim Derr and wife Tina all of Hutchinson, nephews and nieces, Sgt.1st Class Michael Derr, Anchorage, Alaska, Thomas McCarthy and Colleen McCarthy, both of Hutchinson, and Meghan McCarthy, Manhattan.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Helen Swank and Glenn and Alice Derr.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Dennis Miller presiding. Friends may call 12 to 9 p.m. Tuesday with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson.
