Donald E. "Don" Brown, 84, died June 8, 2012, at his home in South Hutchinson. He was born Aug. 15, 1927, in Hutchinson, the son of Miles S. and Cleo Alice Mullins Brown.
Don was a 1945 graduate of Hutchinson High School, a Korean War veteran serving in the U.S. Army, and an avid bowler. Working for Kansas Power and Light Company for 43 years, he was a retired meter foreman. On Sept. 16, 1952, he married Dana Kathryn Hamer. She survives. Other survivors include: two daughters, Donna Kaufman of Hutchinson, and Carol Loepp and her husband Les of Tulsa, Okla.; five grandchildren, Breean Robinson, Kristen Kaufman, Cody Loepp, Micah Kaufman, and Kayla Kaufman; and a great-granddaughter, Lidia Reeves. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2012, at Elliott Chapel with Pastor Tim Adrian officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Cremation will take place. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will receive friends following the service at the mortuary.
