Donald Wayne Dean, 96, of Hutchinson, died February 24, 2025. He was born January 20, 1929, in Larned, to Caleb B. and Minnie J. (Huseman) Dean.

Don graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1947. He worked for Dillons for 55 years, most of those in the Advertising / Art Department as a graphic artist. Don enjoyed antique automobiles, owning 3 of them, which he drove in the city's 4th of July and Christmas parades for many years. Woodcarving was another hobby, specifically antique cars and holiday-themed characters. He treasured time spent with his children and their families. Don was of the Methodist faith.

On October 18, 1949, he married Kathaleen L. Steinmetz, in Hutchinson They later divorced. On September 20, 1978, Don married Betty Ellen (King) Morton, in Hutchinson. She died November 20, 2016.

He is survived by: his children, Rodney Dean and wife Genny of Cartwright, OK, Terry Dean and wife Rayne of Hutchinson, Rhonda Harvey of Cottonwood, AZ; stepdaughters, Kathie Pauls of Hutchinson, Debbie Wolfe and husband Bill of Sterling; '7 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and several extended family members.

Don was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Carl Proctor; wife, Betty; and former wife, Kathaleen Waddle.

Don's wishes were to be cremated. Private family service will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery.
