Obituary

Donald E. 'Don' Schinstock, 75, of Hutchinson, died Friday, November 2, 2018, at Hester Care Center, Hutchinson. He was born November 28, 1942, in Kinsley, to Joseph John and Edna Ferne (Countryman) Schinstock.

Don graduated from Kinsley High School in 1961 and attended Salt City Business College. He was a farmer and stockman and district sales manager for Vigortone. During high school Don was very active in FFA. In addition, he served as a Reno County 4-H leader, Reno County Fair board member, and Reno County Pork Producers. Don encouraged both his children and grandchildren to be involved in 4-H, and he took an active role in attending their 4-H events and school activities. He was also a charter member of the Great Plains 2-Cylinder Tractor Club, 50-year member of the Knights of Columbus Council #7279, and member of Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson.

On October 5, 1963, he married Carole Byers in Hutchinson. She died May 13, 1994. On April 21, 1995, he married Izetta Smith Schriner in Hutchinson. She died December 14, 2010. On November 12, 2011, he married Sharon Barber Brungardt in Garden City.

Don is survived by: wife, Sharon of Hutchinson; sons, Randy Schinstock, Rod Schinstock, both of Wichita; daughters, Michele Pitts (Kelly) of Buhler, Rachele Strawn (Mark) of Hutchinson; stepchildren, Michael Schriner (Kim) of Colby, Scott Schriner (Jane) of Inman, Curt Brungardt (Christie) of Hays, Julie Henley (Robert) of Farmington, New Mexico, Wes Brungardt (Cindy) of Garden City, Janet Gonsalves (Joe) of Derby; brother, Melvin of Kinsley; 26 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Harold and Leo Schinstock; and sister, Pat (Schinstock) Barrett.

Parish Rosary will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2018, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Church of the Holy Cross, 2631 Independence Rd., Hutchinson, with Father Aaron Spexarth officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Church of the Holy Cross, Birthright, or Reno County Livestock Sale (for the benefit of Reno County 4-H livestock participants), in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
