Donald Joe "Donnie" Hendrickson, 64, died Dec. 19, 2008, at his home in Hutchinson.

He was born Oct. 28, 1944, in Hutchinson, the son of Lemuel Russel and Theresa Ruth Bates Hendrickson. A lifetime resident of Hutchinson, he retired from Dillons Warehouse on Feb. 12, 2002, after 36 years.

He was a Christian. He belonged to the Teamsters Local No. 795. He served in the Army National Guard.

On Aug. 15, 1964, he married Phyllis Lee Kunzie in Hutchinson. She survives. Other survivors include: a son, Curtis J. Hendrickson and wife Dana, Hutchinson; a daughter, Kim Elliott and husband Mike, South Hutchinson; a brother, Jim, Hutchinson; three sisters, Rosie Wilson, Hutchinson, Twila Elmore, Oklahoma, and Beverly Maurer, Lawson, Mo.; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, stepfather, a brother and a sister.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Howard Wagler presiding. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Penwell Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum. Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society in care of the mortuary.
