Donald R. Elliott, retired President of Elliott Mortuary, age 83, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013 at his home in Hutchinson. Don was born March 27, 1929, in Hutchinson, the son of James V. and Josephine Hyde Elliott. He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1947 and Hutchinson Community College in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and then graduated from the Williams Institute of Mortuary Science, Kansas City, in 1954.

He married Betty Jane Jones September 5, 1954, in Independence, Missouri. Betty's death occurred on June 8, 2010.

Don was a member of First Presbyterian Church and American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68.

Survivors: Sons, Stan and Jana of Austin, TX, Tom and Carolyn of Hutchinson, Paul and Shannon of Houston, TX; sister-in-law, Betty Elliott of Grand Junction, CO;
grandchildren, Matt of Dallas, TX, Katie and her fiancé Matt McCoy of Austin, TX, Elizabeth of Chicago, IL, Paige of Washington, DC, Amanda and Lexie of Houston and Claire of Hutchinson.

He was preceded in death by his wife Betty, his parents Jim and Jo, and his brothers Bill and Bob Elliott.

Memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Sherman. A private family graveside will be held prior at the Lone Star Cemetery, Pretty Prairie. Friends may call Thursday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
