Donald Ray 'Don' Horne, 78, of Hutchinson, died Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at his home. He was born August 15, 1939, in Roanoke, Virginia, the son of Erman C. and Anna May (Hale) Horne.

Don worked as an auto body repairman in the family-owned Horne Body Shop in Hutchinson. He served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1963. Don loved fishing, camping, and watching NASCAR on TV.

On February 22, 1962, he married Carolyn Kay Hoots in Bethany, Oklahoma.

Don is survived by: his wife, Carolyn, of the home; children, Michael Jay Horne of Phoenix, AZ, Rhonda Horne of Hutchinson, David Horne of Hutchinson, Denise Horne of Hutchinson, Mike Ray Horne (Annabel) of Hobbs, NM; grandchildren, Christina Giberson (David Blevins), James Giberson (Kari Winger), Kimberly Penner, Steven Katz, David Katz (Heather Busha), Taylor Horne; sister, Betty Hipple of Wisconsin; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Joann Horne; brothers, Watt, Earl, and Doug; grandsons, Jason and Brian Horne; and daughter-in-law, Helen Horne.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2017, at Elliott Chapel, with Reverend Cindy Dubovich officiating. Friends may sign the memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N.
