Don Scott, 70, departed this earthly life to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sept. 24, 2012. He left peacefully from his recliner at home, his long battle with cancer having ended in victory.

He was born Dec. 3, 1941, at home in Cherokee, Kan. He graduated from Columbus High School in 1959. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1960-1964.

On March 6, 1965, he married Jenny Ione Helm in Wichita. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church. Don retired in 2002 as Material Coordinator for Cessna Aircraft after 40 years of service.

Survivors include: his wife, Jenny Scott of the home; two sons, Randy Glen Scott (Jasmine) of Maize and Nathan Perry Scott (Jaleena) of Belle Plaine; brother, Ronald James Scott (Roberta) of Weir, Kan.; grandchildren, Amanda Scott (Jared) of Wichita, Sheldon and Matthew Mathis, both of Hutchinson, Jenna McKay of Bernice, Okla., Janessa Stringer of Belle Plaine; and unborn baby, Natalee Danielle Scott of Belle Plaine. Don was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Danielle Dawn Mathis; brother, Robert Lee Scott; sisters, Delores Strasinger and Terri Lynn Macht.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at Westside Baptist Church, 400 W. 12th with Pastors Tim Adrian, Ray Emery and Jim Burns officiating. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at New Pleasantview Cemetery, Weir, Kan., with Pastor Eldon Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at Elliott mortuary and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Westside Baptist Church, Hutchinson.
