Donald M. Stiles, Jr., 74, died June 16, 2006, at Hutchinson Hospital.
He was born Dec. 31, 1931, in Mankato, the son of Donald M. and Ruth E. Brown Stiles Sr. He graduated in 1949, from Hutch-inson High School, and attended Wentworth Military Academy and the University of Kansas. A resident of Hutchinson since 1938, he was the owner of Don M. Stiles Builders.
He belonged to Sigma Chi Fraternity, the National Rifle Association, Ducks Unlimited, Central Kansas Gun Club and enjoyed hunting, trap shooting and sporting clays. He was a captain in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and served in the Kansas Air National Guard.
On March 31, 1956, he married Martha A. Hunter. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Mark, Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters, Cindy Stiles and her husband, Eric Kaldjian, Ann Arbor, Mich., and Jennifer O'Connor and her husband, Kevin, Andover; a brother, Phillip R., Scottsdale, Ariz.; two sisters, Sharon Meegan, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Donnis Wither, Middletown, R.I.; and eight grandchildren, Tyler Brandon, Emily, Benjamin and Alexander Kaldjian, and Jameson, Quinn, Hunter and Blayne O'Connor.
Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Tim Soule presiding. The family will greet friends following the memorial service in the church parlor. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary. The body will be cremated. Private family graveside service will be in Penwell-Gable's Cemetery and Mausoleum, with military graveside rites conducted by the McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Donald M. Stiles Jr. Memorial Fund, in care of the Hutchinson Community Foundation.
