WICHITA - Donald G. Tankersley, 78, died Nov. 25, 2009 at Via Christi RMC, St. Francis Campus.
He was born Feb. 23, 1931 in Junction City to Merril and Myrtle Elsie Sheaffer Tankersley.
He grew up in Hutchinson then lived in Manhattan and Wichita. He was an auctioneer and in furniture sales.
Donald served in the United States Air Force from 1949-1953.
On Oct. 5, 1952 he married Donna Dague in Wichita. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Steven, Wichita, and Scott, Hutchinson; daughter, Stacy Strome, Hutchinson; brother, Robert, Junction City; 4 grandchildren, Wendy McBride, Justin, Shawna and Niki Tankersley; and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Raymond and Orin Tankersley.
Funeral will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009 at Elliott Chapel with Pastor Andy Addis officiating. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum.
Visitation will be 9-9 Sunday and Monday at Elliott Mortuary. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation in care of the mortuary, 1219 N Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
