Donald L. Valgren, 75, died Oct. 24, 2009, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born May 15, 1934, in Northwood, N.D., to Charlie L. and Julia B. Severson Valgren. He attended schools in North Dakota. A resident of Hutchinson since 1956, he was a tool maker and tool grinder at Cessna Fluid Power, Hutchinson, for 27 years. He had previously worked in the foundry at Krause Implement for nine years.
He attended Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. His hobby was restoring antique tractors. He belonged to the Two Cylinder Club, Hutchinson, and several other antique tractor clubs around the state. He served in the U.S. Army.
On May 9, 1959, he married Madlyn K. Wingert in Hutchinson. She survives. Other survivors include: a son, Johnny Ray and his wife Joan, Saginaw, Texas; two daughters, Cindy Ewing and husband Joe, Hutchinson, and Linda Kay Peters, St. John; a brother, Robert W., Blue, Okla.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with Chaplain Robert Phipps presiding. Friends may sign the register from 1 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family present to receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday.
