Obituary

Donald "Duke" Wiggins, 74, died December 12, 2020, at his home.  He was born April 26, 1946, in Independence, to Donald Leslie and Gladys (Farney) Wiggins.

Duke graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1964 and Wichita State University.  He retired as the treasurer and accountant for Krause Plow after over 40 years of service.  Duke loved watching the Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Chiefs, and his Wichita State Shockers, proudly wearing clothing from all of his three favorite teams.  He stayed active in the Hutchinson community his entire life.  Duke was currently an active member of AMBUCS, and a member of the Reno County Choral Society, where he enjoyed singing in the "Messiah".

Duke was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, for over 50 years, where he was involved in the music department. Duke treasured the friendship and fellowship of those in the Chancel Choir and Praise Team.  He was a "silent leader" working behind the scenes to ensure everything was taken care of before any practice or church service.  Duke was humble, kind, compassionate, and most likely, never had an enemy.  He left an impact on many, many, lives, and will be greatly missed.

Duke is survived by:  sons, Jeff Wiggins (Mindy) of Owasso, OK, Chris Wiggins (Virginia) of Wichita; daughter, Angela Fernandez (Dan) of Prairie Village; grandchildren, Ian Wiggins, Allyson Fernandez, Amyra, Hudson, and Annelyn Wiggins; confidant, Deb Wiggins; Jeff and Chris' mother, Carolyn Carter of Wichita; and faithful companion, his dog, Dolly.

He was preceded in death by:  his parents, and sister, Candy Bos.

Cremation has taken place.  Private family service will be held Thursday, December 17, 2020, at Elliott Chapel.  Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Trinity United Methodist Church Columbarium.  Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday at Elliott Mortuary.
