The passing of Donna Mae Heimerman, a longtime resident of Hutchinson, Kansas, leaves a void in the hearts of many, as we bid farewell to a loving soul who departed on September 28, 2026, at the age of 94.
Donna was born on December 12, 1931, in Jetmore, Kansas, the daughter of Buford and Gertrude (Walker) Egbert. She was the first of seven children.
Donna earned her nursing degree from Wichita. Donna started nursing at age 17 and worked at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Hutchinson Hospital, and finished her career with 16 years at Mennonite Manor in South Hutchinson.
Donna married Harold Heimerman on September 5, 1953. Together they raised five sons, and foster children. Donna retired from nursing after 54 years, and after the loss of her husband she moved to Saint Francis Village in Crowley, Texas for the last eleven years of her life, where she had many, many friends who will miss her dearly.
Survivors include her sons, Douglas Heimerman (wife, Jan) of Alvarado, Texas, David Heimerman (wife, Christine) of Arlington, Texas, and Donald Heimerman of Ost, Kansas, her sister, Mary Ellen Schrock of Hutchinson, Kansas, daughters-in-law Pam Heimerman and Melissa Levy, ten grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family including numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold Heimerman, two sons, Daniel Heimerman and Darin Heimerman, brothers Pierre Egbert, Erwin Egbert, Edwin Egbert, Michael Egbert and Patrick Egbert and two grandsons, Jacob Heimerman and Greg Stephenson.
May she Rest in Peace.
Parish Rosary will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2026, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m., both at Church of the Holy Cross, 2631 Independence Road, Hutchinson. Inurnment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may sign her book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
