Donna P. Nickels, 84, of Hutchinson, died Jan. 11, 2013, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Inman. Donna was born June 15, 1928, at Langdon, the daughter of Wilford & Pearl Davis Pratt.

A lifelong Reno County resident, she graduated from Langdon High School in 1944, and attended Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia. She taught elementary school for a short time before she was married. She later became an L.P.N. and was the administrator of Good Samaritan Center from 1965 to 1973.

Donna was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She enjoyed fishing, playing cards and visiting with family and friends.

Donna married Earl R. "Nick" Nickels on June 12, 1948, in Great Bend. He died Nov. 25, 1991. Survivors include: a son, Ronnie Nickels and wife Carol, St. Louis, Mo.; a sister, Ollie Faye Nelson, Hutchinson; three grandsons, Brian Nickels, Craig Nickels, and Scott Nickels; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters.

Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with Pastor Jim Rhaesa presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, and the family will greet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Penwell Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society, or American Heart Association, sent in care of Elliott Mortuary.
