Dora Irene Griggs, 94, died Oct. 4, 2011, at Hester Care Center, Hutchinson.

She was born Aug. 11, 1917, in Plevna, to Clarence and Mabel James Dunham.

Dora was a devoted mother, church secretary, former Sunday school teacher, and member of Keystone Sunday school class.

She married Warren W. Griggs on Jan. 17, 1941, in Hutchinson. He died April 13, 1985.

Survivors include: children, Marilynn Melendy (Tom) of Palisade, Colo., Bill Griggs (Sylvia) of Hutchinson, Steve Griggs (Penny) of Kissimme, Fla.; grandchildren, Larry Trezise (Gary Koven), Kristin Trezise, Tim Melendy (Barb), Shana Wentzel (Greg), Tiffany Lowrie (Jesse); seven great-grandchildren and six great great-grandchildren; and sister, Edith Mooney of South Hutchinson. She was preceded in death by: siblings, Carl Dunham, Russ Dunham, Corbin Dunham, Minnie Dunham, Dora's twin Dorthea Bay, Opal Allen, Nina Hobach, Jessie Dill, William Dunham; and grandson, Nicholas Griggs.

Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at First United Methodist Church, 101 E. 1st Ave., with Reverend Mark Conard officiating. There will be a private family burial. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Chapel.

Memorials may be made to Tenth Ave United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Church or Wesley Towers Good Samaritan Fund, in care of Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
