Obituary

Doris J. Ankerholz, 78, died Oct. 4, 2009, at her home, South Hutchinson.

She was born Dec. 25, 1931, in Nickerson, to Orville and Mariah Burgin Risley.

She graduated from Nickerson High School in 1950. A lifetime Reno County resident, she was a homemaker and cake baker.

She belonged to the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, and T.O.P.S.

On May 18, 1952, she married Jay Ankerholz in Nickerson. He survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Steve and wife Teresa, Edwards, Colo.; daughters, Debra Smith and husband Larry, Protection, and Kelli Petz, Hutchinson; grandchildren, Jared Petz, Ben Ankerholz and wife Rachel, Jesse Ankerholz, Jena Woods, J.D. Smith and wife Lana, and Ty Smith; two great-granddaughters; and a brother, Ivan Risley, Overland Park.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday Oct. 6, 2009, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Tim Ault-Duell presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson.

Memorials may be sent to Hospice Care of Kansas, or the church, both in care of the funeral home.
