Doris Lynette Breeze, 95, died Oct. 1, 2014, in Hutchinson. She was born July 12, 1919, in Iuka, Kansas, to Edgar and Verma (Beach) Keller.
She graduated from Antrim High School. Doris married Eddie Southards, of Byers, in 1937. They later divorced. She then married Harold E. Breeze on April 14, 1949, in Preston. He died June 9, 1992. Doris was a beautician, with a shop in her home in South Hutchinson until retiring at age 85. A member of South Hutchinson Methodist Church, she served in many capacities and was a member of Eastern Star. Doris loved to be in the kitchen cooking, baking or swapping recipes. She liked picking sand hill plums and making jelly to share with friends. She never came to your house without something she just baked and you never left her house without taking home fresh baked banana bread. Doris was always there if you needed help or just someone to visit with.
Survivors include: daughters, Karen Pfaff (Ray) of Bedford, Virginia, Sharon Ewert (Ron) of Tomahawk, Wisconsin, and Margie Breeze of Hutchinson; nine grandchildren, Jim Herrel (Angie) of Emporia, Kurt Herrel (Jeanelle) of Goessel, Kristen Allen (David) of Boise, Idaho, Darren Pfaff (Fran), Michelle Harding (Fred), and Amy Cox (Martin), all of Bedford, Virginia, Wendy Shantz (Jim) of Buhler, David Ewert and Mike Ewert of Wichita; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Glenn Keller of Wichita; sister, Carmen Barnes of Phoenix, Arizona; sisters-in-law, Lucille Keller, Geneva Breeze, and Leona Altenbaumer, all of Hutchinson, and Ada Mae Keller of Pratt, Kansas; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Everett, Kenneth, Paul, Ernest, Lowell and Darrell Dee; and a sister, Nadine Adams.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, at South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, with Pastor Warren Hett presiding. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in Iuka Cemetery, Iuka, Kansas. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the family to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
