Obituary

Doris Nadine Morris, 91, died June 25, 2006, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.

She was born Aug. 2, 1914, in Nickerson, the daughter of Michael Walter and Mary Viola Yaple Blanchfield. She was a 1934 graduate of Sterling High School. A lifetime resident of Reno County, she was a homemaker.

She belonged to Mitchell Chapel United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.

On Sept. 1, 1936, she married Claude E. Morris in Larned. He survives.

Other survivors include: a son, David and wife, Sue, Hutchinson; a daughter, Elaine Detter and husband, Reynold, Oakdale, Calif.; a sister, Velma Thode, Lyons; four grandchildren, Kim Stirtz and husband, Ed, Loomis, Calif., Nancy Culbertson and husband, Dennis, Riverbank, Calif., Melissa Evans and husband, Randy, Loveland, Colo., and Jay Morris and wife, Tina, Hutchinson; and six great-grandchildren, Stacey and her husband Hunter, Matthew, David, Walker, Creighton and Harrison.

She was preceded in death by a stillborn son.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Chaplain Frederick J. Obold and Pastor Sam Eskew presiding. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Wildmead Cemetery, Nickerson.
