Obituary

NICKERSON - Doris V. Osborn, 90, of Nickerson, died March 26, 2011, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson.

She was born June 10, 1920, at Nickerson, the daughter of Virgil T. and Lola Dixon Slifer.

She was a life-long Reno County resident and was a 1938 graduate of Nickerson High School. She was a homemaker and during World War II worked bucking rivets at the airplane plant here in Hutchinson. She was a life-long member of Fairview United Methodist Church and served many years as the church treasurer. She was a member of the Kansas Old Time Fiddlers, Pickers, and Singers, and enjoyed her chickens and watching birds in her yard.

On April 14, 1946, she married Russell W. "Jiggs" Osborn in Nickerson. He died Dec. 24, 1999.

Survivors include: sons, Lyle Osborn and his wife Karen, Abbyville, and Dale Osborn and his wife Crystal, Wichita; a sister, Vera Kirkoff, Pretty Prairie; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Elda Leonard.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with Lay Minister Rita Wildin presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, where the family will greet friends Tuesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson.

Memorial contributions may be made to Fairview United Methodist church, and sent in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, Ks. 67501.
