Dorothy 'Dodie' A. Wheaton, passed away January 5, 2023, at Sterling Village, Sterling, KS, following a long illness.  She was born March 13, 1945, in Nashville, KS, to Edward and Mary Ann (Henning) Mies.

She received her education in Kingman KS.  Following the births of her three children, she remained in Kingman for several years and eventually settled in South Hutchinson, KS.

Dodie was an avid car lover and a proud member of car club communities.  Her most recent was Rosie, a 1989 Buick Riviera, which brought her numerous awards and was the topic of countless conversations.

Dodie is survived by:  her children, Danny Johnson of Waldron, AR, Sherry Johnson Schwab and husband Joshua of Hutchinson, KS, and Theodore 'Mike' Johnson of Hutchinson, KS; grandchildren, Brock Johnson and  wife Sarah, McCartney, Brayla, and Keenan Johnson; great-grandchildren, Chloie, Barrett, and Beau Johnson;  siblings, Johnny Mies and wife Sharon, Edward 'Jr.' Mies and wife Corliss, Jan Bowen, Linda Tomlinson, Jim Mies, and Gary Mies; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family of car lovers.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Bonnie Tennyson.

Cremation has taken place.  Dodie will be escorted in her Riviera on Monday, January 23, 2023, arriving by 10 a.m. at the Walnut Hill Cemetery, Kingman KS, for a private graveside service.  The burial will be followed by a gathering at the Silver Dollar, 1000 Nickerson Blvd, Hutchinson, KS, at 11:30 am, for a celebration of life that is open to friends and family.  Food will be provided.
