Dorothy A. Broom, 83, died November 27, 2015, at Dillon Living Center. She was born July 8, 1932, in Battle Creek, Iowa, to Fred J. and Dorothy A. Bies.

On January 22, 1961, she married James Alvah Broom in Hutchinson. He died January 24, 1998.

Dorothy was a homemaker.

Survivors include: son, Tom Halbrook, Houston, Texas; daughters, Sidney Alexander (Pat), Pierre, South Dakota, Julie Werth (Steve), Hutchinson, and Jayne Macias (Hector), El Paso, Texas; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild; and a sister, Faye Sommer, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother, Tom Bies.

Cremation has taken place. Private graveside service will be held at a later date. Friends may sign the memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
