Obituary

Dorothy Blessing Clark, 91, died Aug. 12, 2014, at Thorne Care Center, Hutchinson. She was born Easter morning on April 1, 1923, at Inman, Kan. She was the daughter of Willard and Edith (Lilly) Blessing.

She graduated from Inman High School in 1941 and attended Hutchinson Junior College. While living in Inman, she taught a Sunday School class to pre-schoolers. She had been a faithful member of the now St. Peter's United Church of Christ. She had been a credit clerk and cashier at Montgomery Wards and bookkeeper for A.D. Rayl Motor Company and S.W. Bell.

On March 11, 1947, she was united in marriage to Vernon Lee Clark. She had lived in Lyons, Kan., Grand Junction, Salida and Denver, Colo. and Wichita, Kan., during the time her husband was employed by Southwestern Bell and Mountain Bell Telephone companies. Vernon died June 20, 1998.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hutchinson, Tri-M Sunday School Class, United Methodist Women, Uvedale Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Descendants of the Mayflower.

She is survived by son, Kelly Clark of Wichita, Kan.; daughter, Laurie (Bill) Stone of Belle Plaine, Kan.; sister, Vernabelle Sperling of Inman; grandsons, Will Stone and Miles (Amanda) Stone of Belle Plaine, Kan.; granddaughter, Kylie (Colin) Campbell of Waco, Texas; great-granddaughters, Payton Stone and Kaylynn Stone and great-grandsons, Tyler Stone and Rhett Stone, all of Belle Plaine, Kan. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon; sisters, Evelyn Davenport, Marguerite LacKamp, Cleta Friesen; and brother, Bill Blessing Jr.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, in North Inman Cemetery, Inman, Kan., with a Celebration of Life Memorial Service to follow at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, with Pastor Jeff Slater presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday through Sunday with the family to receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
