Dorothy L. Koestel Sullivan Covert, 86, died April 15, 2009, at Dillon Living Center, Hutchinson.

She was born June 5, 1922, in Partridge, the daughter of Henry and Olga M. Massoni Koestel. She was a graduate of Partridge High School. She was a proofreader for The Hutchinson News for over 20 years, retiring in 1988.

She belonged to St. Teresa's Catholic Church, Elmdale's Pioneer Senior Citizen Center, and Visual Aide.

On April 12, 1942, she married Wayne Sullivan in Wichita Falls, Texas. They divorced. On June 13, 1982, she married Elvin C. Covert at St. Teresa's Catholic Church. He died June 7, 1995. Survivors include: three sons, Roger Sullivan and wife Delta, Hutchinson, John Sullivan, Hutchinson, and William Sullivan and wife Linda, O'Fallon, Mo.; stepchildren, Dr. Tom Covert, Topeka, Chris Covert, Houston, Texas, and Dawn Goertzen, Topeka; a brother, Robert Koestel, South Hutchinson; three sisters, Ethel Krug, and Viola Bontrager, both of South Hutchinson, and Evelyn Myers, Hutchinson; six grandchildren, Dana Sorrenson, Melissa Myers, Lisa Nash and husband Rob, Mike Sullivan, Julie Steen and husband Jan, and Jayson Sullivan and wife Karen; six step-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a stillborn daughter, Doris Sullivan, brothers, Clifford and Albert Koestel, and a sister, Annabell Conrad.

Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday April 17, 2009, in Partridge Cemetery, with Father Brian Nelson presiding. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The casket will be closed.
