Dorothy Evelyn Wildin Showalter Dill, age 89, of Hutchinson, went to Heaven on September 26, 2017, at Hospice House in Hutchinson, Kansas. She passed peacefully while friends and family sang "Amazing Grace" at her bedside.
Dorothy was born on April 13, 1928, in Horton, Kansas, to Charles and Sigrid (Ogren) Wildin. She grew up in Horton, Hutchinson, Kansas, and Inglewood, California. After her parents died, Dorothy lived with her sister, Grace and family, in Pasadena, California. She graduated from Pasadena High School in 1946. In 1947, she traveled back to Hutchinson, where she married Donald Wayne Showalter on November 27, Dorothy and Don were blessed with twin daughters, born December 25, 1949. Don passed away on August 4, 1981. Dorothy remained in Hutchinson, where on June 14, 2005, she married Herman Lee Dill. Herman passed away on January 19, 2015.
Dorothy was a homemaker and member of Countryside Baptist Church, where she also served as secretary for many years.
Dorothy was preceded in death by: her first husband, Donald, and second husband, Herman; her brothers, Rollin Virgil Wildin, Donald Everett Wildin, George LeVern Wildin; and sister, Grace Lilian (Wildin) Wetzel.
She is survived by: twin daughters, Christine Hover of Hutchinson, and Cynthia (Richard) Brice-Nash of North Huntingdon, PA; nieces, Donna (Cliff) Hahn of Redmond, Oregon, Evelyn Plemons of Pismo Beach, California, Diane (Don) Oldt of Paso Robles, California, Mary Ann (Stephen) Steen of Manchester, PA; and nephew, Rollin Charles Wildin of Columbia, Ohio.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at Countryside Baptist Church, 819 W. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, with Pastor Ron Kyker officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Countryside Baptist Church.
