Dorothy Lee Edwards, 86, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015. She was born Sept. 18, 1929, in Pratt, the daughter of John and Burvellee (Bible) Hoffman. She was a 1947 graduate of Hutchinson High School. She started working at Southwestern Bell Telephone as an operator, accountant and chief operator, then worked for American Telephone and Telegraph as group manager of operator services, retiring in November of 1986. She was a lifetime member of Telephone Pioneers of America.
On March 17, 1951, she married William Frederick Edwards in Hutchinson. He died March 7, 2007. She is survived by: a son and daughter, Gary of Hutchinson and Connie Sue Elliott and husband Jim of Maize; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, William Lee; four brothers, John, Richard, Frank and Robert Hoffman; and two sisters, Betty White and Bev Thompson.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no service, per Dorothy's request. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Hutchinson Animal Shelter, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
