Dorothy Ann Elliott, 83, died Dec. 9, 2010, at Atria Hearth Stone, Topeka. She was born May 18, 1927, in Hutchinson to Jacob F. and Susie Rempel Richert. She graduated in 1945, from Hutchinson High School and in 1947, she graduated from Hutchinson Junior College. A former resident of Hutchinson, she was employed at Gano Grain before becoming a full time homemaker and mother.
She belonged to the First United Methodist Church, and The Father's House. She volunteered in many ways at both churches over the years. She also assisted with over 70 Lay Witness Missions, many of which she served as the children's coordinator.
On Nov. 9, 1947, she married Kenneth W. Elliott in Hutchinson. He died July 7, 1996. Survivors include: a son, Gary and wife Femie, Andover; a daughter, Janet Degenhardt and husband Ralph, Topeka; a sister, Marilyn Jackson and husband Roy, South Hutchinson; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Kenneth W. Elliott.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with Pastor Quintin Moore presiding. Memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Monday at The Father's House, Hutchinson. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday.
