Obituary

Dorothy V. Gose, 88, died March 14, 2010, at Pleasant View Home, Inman.

She was born Jan. 13, 1922, in Elkhart, Kan., the daughter of Fred Macy and Minerva Sarah Kifer Coultice.

Dorothy graduated from Elkhart High School in 1940 and then Southwest Teachers College, Springfield, Mo., and Fort Hays State College in Hays, Kan. She then taught school in a one-room country schoolhouse in Morton County. She was a motel manager later in life, working for the Townsman Best Western and the Oklahoman, both in Guymon, Okla.
She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Hutchinson, where she also belonged to the church quilting club.

On Nov. 14, 1942, she married George William Gose in Elkhart. He died Sept. 20, 1986.

Survivors include: four sons, Gerry W. Gose of Belfry, Mont., Richard L. Gose of Hutchinson, Jimmy J. Gose of Denver, Colo., and Billy B. Gose of Fairbanks, Alaska; brother, James L. Coultice of Hutchinson; sister, Barbara A. King of Hutchinson; nine grandchildren, Daphne, Karen, Sariah, Christine, Jennifer, Melanie, Michael, Terry and Amy; and 32 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother, Stanley Coultice; and two sisters, Ruby Masin and Beverly Coultice.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 18, 2010, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Mark Conard presiding. Friends may call 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City.
