Obituary

Dorothy Marie Hartman, 91, died October 29, 2018, at St. Francis-Via Christi, Wichita.  She was born November 12, 1926, in Drumright, Oklahoma, to Carl D. and Nettie Jane (Cargill) Shaffer.

Dorothy graduated from Russell High School in 1944 and Brown-Mackie College in 1945.  She was an excellent seamstress, 4-H leader, and retired from American Drug Stores.  Dorothy was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson and United Methodist Church Women.

On July 1, 1980, she married Melvin Hartman in Guymon, Oklahoma.  He died January 1, 1999.

Dorothy is survived by:  daughters, Sondra Calvin of Hutchinson, Debra Rupert of Wichita, Jane Willis of Garland, Texas, Susan Rupert of Hutchinson; sisters, Wanda Sieker of Ellinwood, Shirley Walker of Texas; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by:  her parents; sister, Exie McPherson; son-in-law, Woodie Calvin; and the father of her four daughters, Arthur Rupert.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 2, 2018, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Lennie Maxwell officiating.  Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson.  Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.  Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS  67501.
