Dorothy Loverne Heider, 90, died March 4, 2009, at Sterling Presbyterian Manor, Sterling.
She was born July 31, 1918, in Everett, Wash., the daughter of Roy Thomas and Lucia Ann Brown Stephens. She was a graduate of St. Helen's Hall Junior College in Oregon.
A resident of Hutchinson since 2004, moving from California, she was a clothing buyer for Meier and Frank Department Store in California.
She belonged to Christian Science Church. She was very active in the Republican Party; she was a former member of the Women's Club of the Northshore in Chicago; she was a former Girl Scout leader; and was a volunteer during World War II.
On Jan. 11, 1947, she married Richard Anthony Heider in New York. He died in October 1977.
Survivors include: daughters, Linda H. Dyck and husband Daniel, Hutchinson, and Beverly McKinney and husband Todd, El Segundo, Calif.; five grandchildren, Marilla Colson and husband JR, Anthony Dyck and wife Johanna, Heidi Dyck, and David and Michael McKinney; and three great-grandsons, Mitchell, Marshall and Cooper James Colson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister.
The family has chosen cremation. A memorial service will be held in California at a later date.
