Dorthy Sue Smith, 79, died March 17, 2026, at Waldron Place in Hutchinson. She was born March 16, 1947, in Rocky Mount, NC, to Franklin Moody and Dorothy Emma (Ackley) Johnson.
Dorothy dedicated numerous years of her life to Eaton Corporation, as a hydraulic pump assembly, until her retirement. During her retirement, Dorothy cherished time spent with her small, but close circle of friends, enjoying each other's company. She also enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and collecting whatever item was her current interest. Dorothy was a devoted member of Victorious Life Church in Hutchinson, and she always looked forward to attending church and seeing her church family.
Dorothy is survived by: her son, Donald (Lori) Koon of KS; mother, Dorothy Johnson of KS; sisters, Patricia Vedder of TX, Barbara Infinjer of CA, Ginny Chronister of KS, and Cris (Mark) Kauffman of KS; grandchildren, Amanda (Patrick Rielly) Roden, Jeff (Taylor) Roden, Angela Myers, Jon Koon, Greg Koon, Eric Koon, and Katelyn (Zach) Smith; great-granddaughters, Allison Roden and Lilah Rielly; daughter-in-law, Christine Koon of CO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her father, Franklin; first husband, William; second husband, Warren; brother, Edward Johnson; son, Richard Koon; and grandson, Michael Koon.
Following Dorothy's wishes, instead of a funeral service, she made the selfless choice to donate her body to science for medical education advancements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Victorious Life Church, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
