Dorothy J. Staib, 82, died Aug. 31, 2008, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.

She was born Aug. 17, 1926, in South Hutchinson, the daughter of Edward Glen and Vivian Gladys Childs Whittle. She graduated in 1944 from Hutchinson High School. A lifetime area resident, she was a lab technician for Singleton-Joyce Optical for 26 years and was a Wal-Mart door greeter.

She belonged to South Hutchinson Christian Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, belonged to the Ladies Fellowship Circle, and historian, all at the church.

On June 20, 1943, she married Bobby Lee Staib in South Hutchinson. He died Sept. 26, 1986. Survivors include: daughters, Linda Sue Staib, Hutchinson, and Connie J. Moyer and husband Kent, Sanford, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Karen Staib, Hutchinson; a brother, Richard Whittle, Hutchinson; six grandchildren, Chad Moyer, Todd Moyer and Laura Moyer, all of Ohio, Nicholas Staib and Dustin Staib, both of Wichita, and Jenilee O'Neal, Hutchinson; and six great-grandchildren, Caden Moyer, Addison Moyer, and Bailey Moyer, all of Ohio, Evelyn Staib, and Maddison Staib, both of Wichita, and Morgan O'Neal, Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by a son, "Rocky" L. Staib, a brother, Glen Whittle, Jr., and a sister, Madge Whittle.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday Sept. 5, 2008, at South Hutchinson Christian Church, with Pastor Brian Barrie presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson.
