Dorothy Virginia Roberts, 92, died October 10, 2014 at Hospice House in Hutchinson, KS. She was born January 3, 1922, to George and Flossy Solomon in Augusta, KS. She married Bob Roberts Sr. on March 10, 1946. Bob had a long career in the military, so they had the opportunity to live in various countries and travel extensively. After Bob retired, they moved back to Hutchinson and continued their love of travel and enjoyed their four grandchildren and two step grandchildren. During this time, Dorothy graduated from Sterling College with a degree in Education. She taught business from 1974 to 1985 at Burton High School. Dorothy was a member of the Retired Teacher's Association, TOPS, and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed playing bridge and pitch. She is preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Solomon and Delores Earns, and her husband, Bob Roberts, Sr. Survivors include: three children, Bob Roberts, Jr., Wichita, KS, Kathy Edwards and husband Bob, Derby, KS, Nancy Johnson and husband Mike, Hutchinson, KS., four grandchildren, Andrea Burton, Montgomery, AL, Matt Burton, Vail, CO, Rhett Johnson, Hutchinson, KS, and Mick Johnson, Lawrence, KS, two step-grandchildren, David Edwards, Houston, TX, Brian Edwards, Wichita, KS, two great-grandchildren, Sandy Edwards, Clanton, AL. Luke Edwards, Houston, TX., and nephew, Mark Earns, Hutchinson, KS.
Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Elliott Mortuary. Friends may call from 9 a.m. - 9p.m. Monday, October 13, 2014 at the mortuary. Interment will follow at a later date at Fort Riley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials contributions can be made to Salvation Army or Hospice and Homecare, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
