Douglas Marvin Brant passed away, April 29, 2023 in Hutchinson, Kansas, at the age of 69.  Doug Brant, as he was known to friends, was born January 9, 1954, in Newton, Iowa, to Robert and Joan (Wilson) Brant.

During his early childhood, Doug's parents moved the family to Costa Mesa, California, where Doug spent most of his youth and adulthood.  At Estancia High School, Doug was a star athlete, excelling as an offensive and defensive lineman on the school football team.  Later, Doug would go on to develop a fondness and talent for various other hobbies and sports, including skiing, golfing, sailing, cycling, jewelry making, cooking, wood working, drumming, hunting, fishing, and dogs.

For his profession, Doug spent roughly 50 years as a general contractor, but he was much more than that; Doug was a master craftsman who was imaginative and meticulous in his craft.  In his twenties, he became a proud father to two children, Erika and Garrett, about whose accomplishments he often boasted to both friends and strangers alike. Doug was also an immensely social person, often passing his weekends at the beach, sipping coffee, or eating sushi with friends and his two children.  In his final year, Doug fulfilled his lifelong dream of owning and renovating a home in the country.  Doug was also a Christian, and took great comfort in his faith.

Doug is survived by: his two children, Erika Brant (age 42) and Garrett Brant (age 40); his younger siblings, Robert Brant, Donald Brant, and Joni Ishmael; and his beloved dogs, Zeke and Buddy.

Doug was preceded in death by: his mother, Joan Brant; father, Robert Brant; and eldest brother, Ronald Brant.

Doug will forever be remembered for his youthful spirit, enthusiasm for life and ability to find humor in most every situation—traits that persisted up until his final days on earth.
