Obituary

Douglas G. Wildin, 84, died April 14, 2009, at his home in Hutchinson.

He was born March 15, 1925, in Hutchinson, the son of John Frederick and Mildred Dawson Wildin. He was a lifetime resident of Hutchinson.

He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1943. He was a farmer and had over 45 years with Doug Wildin and Associates Ranch Brokers. He was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist. He served on the board of the Kansas Wheat Commission.

On Aug. 10, 1949, he married Donna L. Farney in Hutchinson. She died Nov. 8, 2002. Survivors include: sons, Jerry Wildin and wife Rita, Haven, John Wildin, Hutchinson, and Jeff Wildin, Dallas; daughter, Janet Shirk and husband Verne, Wichita; brother, Maurice Wildin, Albuquerque N.M.; sister, Joyce Doane, St. Louis; and grandchildren, Ross Wildin, Andrew Shirk, Kimberly Shirk, Christa Caudillo, and Amy Howard. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Jenna Carey Wildin, and sister, Rosemary Kohberger.

Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Mr. Daniel A. Dyck presiding. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Cremation will take place. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
