Drene Ann Hipple, 74, died May 20, 2006, at her home, Hutchinson.
She was born June 13, 1931, in Lincoln, the daughter of Robert U. and Reva S. Hendrickson Herman. She graduated in 1949 from Lincoln High School and then graduated from Adela Hale Business College, Hutchinson. A Hutchinson resident since 1983 moving from Lincoln, she was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell, secretary for the Kansas State Office and was a bookkeeper for Rudy's Implement, all in Lincoln.
She belonged to the Countryside Baptist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Women's Auxiliary, Lincoln, and the American Legion Women's Auxiliary Unit No. 68, Hutchinson.
On Sept. 8, 1950, she married Norman W. "Bill" Hipple in Lincoln. He survives.
Other survivors include: a brother, Robert W. Herman, Yukon, Okla.; and three sisters, Neta Kowitz, Hutchinson, Joyce Countryman, Tucson, Ariz., and Nola Gaeddert, Inman.
Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Dusty M. Cowell presiding. Cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the register Tuesday through Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Lincoln.
