Drula Mabel McKinney, 88, of Hutchinson, died January 28, 2018, at Brookdale Senior Living, Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was born May 8, 1929, in Seward County, the daughter of Charles and Stella (Warner) Ferguson. Drula graduated from Haviland Friends Academy and attended Friends Bible College in Haviland, where she met and married the late Fred Hadley McKinney on October 7, 1949.
She is survived by: her son, Dwain McKinney (Shirley); 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren: Joshua Ross (Karin) and daughter Janelle, Jesse Ross (Colleen) and daughter Adelaide, Janie Morgan (Heath) and daughters Tatum and Kennedy, Jonathan Ross, Jason McKinney (Lori), Aaron McKinney (Carrie) and daughters Sarah, Emily, Allison, Grace and Megan, Shayla Becze (Jeff) and daughter Tressa, Christina Shamburg (Bryan) and daughters Hadley and Bryley, Joseph Jaster, Emily Boyer (Eddie) and son Emmett, Ben Jaster, Sarah Jaster; sons-in-law, David Ross and Paul Jaster; sisters, Ivol Ellis, Bulah McKinney (Francis); and brothers, Delmar Ferguson, Floyd Ferguson (Estalene); and Willard Ferguson (Doris).
Drula was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; daughters, Dianne Ross and Carolyn Jaster; and brothers, Robert Ferguson, Wendell Ferguson, and Charles Ferguson.
Drula was a devoted mother to her children, caring for both of her daughters through their fight with cancer. Her kind smiles will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She always made her family, friends, and church family feel cared for and loved. Drula worked and retired from the Hutchinson Medical Center Insurance Department.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, at Hutchinson Friends Church, 1200 E. 14th Ave., Hutchinson. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in the Haviland Community Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.
