Obituary

LEAVENWORTH - Duane L. Crow, 60, died Feb. 14, 2009, at his home, Leavenworth.

He was born Aug. 17, 1948, in Hutchinson, the son of Kenneth E. and Mary Deck Crow.

He was a longtime resident of Abbyville, and a 1966 graduate of Fairfield High School, Langdon. He attended Hutchinson Community Junior College and was a graduate of Central State University, Edmond, Okla. He was a manager, embalmer and funeral director in the mortuary business, Leavenworth, for 20 years and histologist at K.U. Medical Center, Kansas City, before retiring in November 2008 due to a sudden illness.

Duane was past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #55, Leavenworth. He was a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and a member of the Church of the Open Door, Leavenworth. He enjoyed outdoor hunting, trap shooting and range/rifle shooting.

On Dec. 24, 1983, he married Lynn Woods. She survives.

Other survivors include: three sons, Justin Crow, Emporia, Jordan Crow, Murrieta, Calif., and Shawn Woods, Williamsburg, Va.; two daughters, Camille McClellan, Emporia, and Tamra Mortsolf, Lansing; a sister, Diane Beck, Plevna; and 10 grandchildren.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at Church of the Open Door, 4800 S. 20th St., Leavenworth, KS. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Abbyville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Church of the Open Door, Leavenworth, or to the Abbyville Senior Citizen Center, both in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
