Duane "Gunner" Goering, 86, died Feb. 4, 2014, at Dillon Living Center, Hutchinson. He was born May 18, 1927, to Earnest E. and Bertha E. Unruh Goering, in Pretty Prairie, Kan.
He graduated from Pretty Prairie High School and attended Kansas State University. Gunner was a Corporal in the United States Army and a retired Captain from the Hutchinson Police Department.
On June 28, 1948, he married Jo Ann Steward in Pretty Prairie, Kan. She died Nov. 2, 1995.
Survivors include: son, Terry Goering and wife Renee of Hutchinson; grandsons, Ryan Ketchum and wife Kim of Bloomington, Ind., Dustin Ketchum and wife Jamie, Cordell Goering; brother, Jimmie Goering and sister-in-law, Winona Goering, all of Hutchinson. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dale, Cecil, Bob "Lee" Goering; and sister, Glenna Roberts.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Father Joseph Eckberg presiding. There will be a private family interment in Lone Star Cemetery, Pretty Prairie. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to service time Friday at the mortuary.
