E. Joan Wicks, 80, of Hutchinson, died Friday, July 13, 2018, at Good Samaritan Society, Hutchinson Village. She was born February 4, 1938, in Hutchinson, to Frank E. and Ethel L. (McQueen) Brown.

Joan graduated from Buhler High School in 1956. She worked for over 30 years at various medical establishments in accounts receivable. Joan was a lifelong member of Temple Baptist Church.

On June 2, 1956, she married Charles L. Hargett Sr. He died February 6, 2008. On January 2, 1984, she married David E. Wicks in Hutchinson. He died June 2, 2018, after sharing 34 years of marriage.

Joan is survived by: daughter, Carol McMillan (Jeramie) of Hutchinson; sons, Richard 'Bruce' Hargett (Melina Pina-Hargett) of Hutchinson, Charles 'Chuck' Hargett Jr. (Cindy Cooper) of Boonville, Missouri; brother, the Reverend Melvin K. Brown (Barbara) of Springfield, Missouri; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two nieces; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Temple Baptist Church, 631 East 3rd, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Melvin K. Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with the family present Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
