Eadie D. (Liming) Sims, 69, passed away November 20, 2014, at Via Christi Medical Center in Wichita. She was born in Hardin, MT on October 1, 1945 to Denver and Esther Liming. After her family moved to California, Eadie graduated from Pomona High School in 1963. While working at International Harvester in Los Angeles, Eadie met Mike Sims, whom she married four years later on January 27, 1979.
After the birth of their twin daughters, Robynn and Laurel, and since Mike grew up in Kansas and still had family near Hutchinson, they moved there to raise them, build a country life, and start a business together. Just in time for Christmas 1982, they moved into their custom-designed dream home southeast of Buhler on twenty acres of land bordering the Little Arkansas River.
One year later, they started Sims Sweeping. This city girl from L.A. quickly learned to enjoy goats, chickens, dogs, cats, ducks, rabbits, and gardens with the family on their small farm. Often they would take long evening walks together with their dogs. As they settled near Buhler, they found Christian community at Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church, where Eadie taught Sunday School for twenty years. She and the family enjoyed wonderful fellowship and spiritual growth during that time. As her daughters grew up attending Buhler schools, she and Mike loved going to plays, athletic events, and band concerts.
Eadie worked at Radio Kansas (KHCC) as the membership coordinator for several years before joining her husband as the office manager of Sims Sweeping. In 2000, Mike and Eadie sold the farm and moved to Hutchinson. In the spring of 2003, they began volunteering at Common Ground Coffeehouse, a local ministry that their daughters helped to establish, which Eadie and Mike managed together for six years. Through friendships formed at Common Ground, Eadie and Mike became members of Calvary Chapel. Even in her last months, Eadie spent time with her friends, helped Mike with the business, and enjoyed time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by: husband, Mike Sims; daughter, Laurel Bogner and her husband, Andrew; daughter, Robynn Sims boyfriend, Jon Dennis; stepson Eric Sims; sister, Ella Zilmer; sister-in-law, Sandy Liming; grandchildren, Dirk Bogner and Emaline Bogner; and twelve nieces and nephews.
