Obituary

Earl Floyd Parks, 87, died October 25, 2013, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born August 28, 1926, in Sylvan Grove, Kansas, to Orville and Martha (Henricks) Parks. He attended Sylvan Grove School and he joined the Presbyterian Church when he was young.

Earl married Raedeane Thorpe on September 20, 1945. They were married for 68 years.

Earl worked for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company for 24 years in Wichita, Salina and Garden City. After Firestone, he worked for the Co-Op in Clay Center and later for Farmland Industries in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska. He retired in 1992.

He is survived by: his wife, Raedeane Parks; sisters, Marie Marcum, of Great Bend, and Jane Ellyson, of Bixby, Oklahoma; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and neighbors.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Glenn, Ralph, Tildon Parks, sister, Ruth Black and infant sister, Dorothy.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Reverend James McQuery officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family present to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.

Memorials may be made to the Chaplain Fund at Wesley Towers, or to Randall Road Southern Baptist Church of Park City, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 North Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
