Obituary

Earldean Summers, 85, died April 25, 2013, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born September 5, 1927, in Dyer, Arkansas, to Earl Thaedeus and Ola Mildred (Campbell) Morse. Earldean graduated in 1945 from Alma High School in Alma, Arkansas.

On February 11, 1946, she married Gorden Summers. They resided in Topeka, where they were owners of Vorse-Summers Heating and Air Conditioning for 17 years. Earldean was a Westar retiree, having worked for the former Kansas Gas Service for 27 years. After retiring in 1991, Earldean and Gorden moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas, where they were members of the Bella Vista United Methodist Church. Gorden passed away March 28, 2007.

Survivors include: daughter, Peggy Hughes (Gary), Hutchinson; son, Larry Summers (Andrew Barresi), Kansas City, MO; grandson, Geoffrey S. Hughes, Dallas, TX; and sister, Irene Hurd, Lansing, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be at 3 p.m. May 10, 2013, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren, Arkansas. Visitation with light refreshments will follow the memorial service. Inurnment will take place in Simmons Cemetery, Alma/Dyer, Crawford County, Arkansas. Memorials may be made to Simmons Cemetery and Memory Garden or Cancer Council of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 North Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
