Earlene Marie Stewart, 92, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2014. She was born Jan. 26, 1922, at Bucklin, Kan., the daughter of Earl H. and Julia M. Hendrickson Van Voorhis. She was a graduate of Hutchinson High School.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, Tri-Misses at the church, a volunteer at the Hutchinson Public Library and had worked for USD 308, retiring in 1982, as secretary-treasurer from Central Junior High School.
On Dec. 11, 1945, she married William G. Stewart in Minneapolis, Kan. He died Dec. 6, 1988. She is survived by: a son, Van and his wife, Mary; and three grandchildren, Kalen Stewart, Anderson Stewart, and Max Stewart, the joys of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Howard Van Voorhis.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Jeff Slater presiding. Burial will be in Penwell Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Calling hours will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
