Eddie A. Garver, 90, of Hutchinson, died Tuesday, December 26, 2017. He was born July 14, 1927, in Hutchinson, the son of Abraham and Katie (Miller) Garver.
He was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, and an Army veteran, serving in the Korean conflict. Eddie was a farmer and mechanic, working for Haven Ford, Dwight Thomas Motors, and retiring from Betts Bakery.
On May 25, 1951, he married Barbara Ellen Lee in Hutchinson. She died December 23, 2013. Surviving are: daughters, Mary Frances Cline of Colorado, Carolyn Nusser of Hutchinson, Linda McMillian and husband Jack of Burrton, and Patty Chase of Hutchinson; sisters, Sarah Schrock of Oklahoma, Clara Yoder of Oregon, and Gertie Miller of Illinois; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Ray, Walter and Abraham, Jr.; sisters, Viola Garber and Edna Fry; and son-in-law, Scott Chase.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Kim Benson presiding. Burial with military honors will be conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard at Fairlawn Burial Park. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, with family to receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary.
