Edith Mae Kestler, 86, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014. She was born April 5, 1928, at Alhambra, Calif., the daughter of Willard and Ruby Winters Story.
She was a 1946, graduate of Turon High School, a 1965 Sterling College graduate, and a 1967 Emporia State University masters degree graduate in special education. She also was a beautician, a volunteer at Delos V. Smith Senior Center, and had been an elementary and special education teacher.
On June 3, 1946, she married Terrance Dale Kestler in Hutchinson. He died August 31, 2003. She is survived by: three daughters and their husbands, Kathy (Gary) Dunn, Abbyville, Chris (Rod) Hudson, Bel Air, MD, and Teri (Bill) Weimer, Hutchinson; siblings, Wanda Smith, Shirley Kysar, Delbert, Ralph and Bill Story; five grandchildren, Ty (Shannon) Dunn, Todd (Linda) Dunn, Heather (Chris Wilcox) Hudson, Jeremy (Kim) Hudson, and Matt (LaDae) McConnell; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Donald, Paul and Robert Story, and a sister, Elizabeth Keesling.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Beth Babb presiding. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery, Arlington. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Hospice House, or the donor's choice, both in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 North Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
