Edith M. "Edie" White, 92, died April 3, 2014, at her home in Hutchinson. She was born June 2, 1921, in Hutchinson, to Herbert A. and Laura G. (Grant) Carr. Edie graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1938, Hutchinson Community College in 1940, and attended Kansas State University for two years. She was a member of Alpha Zeta Delta, P.E.O. Chapter HP, and Grace Episcopal Church.

On March 17, 1966, she married Eugene A. White in Hutchinson. He died January 28, 1999.

Edie is survived by: daughter, Merilyn Britt and husband Duncan Shepherd of San Diego, Calif.; stepchildren, Warren White and wife Tresa of Oregon, Kevin White and wife Tina of Lutz, Fla., Carolyn Salmon and husband Jack of Porttownsend, Wash., Linda Vogel Smith and husband Jack of Kansas City, Mo., and Christine Himebrook and husband Steve of Florida; grandson, Kane Britt of Wichita; nine step-grandchildren; and 12 step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with The Right Reverend Michael P. Milliken officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Inurnment will be in Fairlawn Mausoleum, Hutchinson.
