Obituary

Edith Marie (Skellenger) McReynolds, 87, of Castleton, died July 25, 2026, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born November 8, 1938, in Hutchinson, to Goerge and Mildred “May” (Parrish) Skellenger.

Edith was a 1956 graduate of Partridge High School. She was a bus driver for Pretty Prairie Schools (USD 311), for over 40 years. Edith enjoyed fishing at Cheney and Wilson Lake and traveled to South Padre, TX to fish on several occasions. She liked to read, crochet, craft, watch her birds, spend time with her dachshunds, and research her family’s genealogy. Most of all, Edith cherished her spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On June 6, 1957, she married Richard P. “Mac” McReynolds, at Camp Bussac, France. They shared over 62 years of marriage; prior to his death on August 21, 2019.

Edith is survived by her children: Corrine Isaack, Patrick (Belinda) McReynolds, Andre “Andy” (Laura) McReynolds, Wilma McReynolds, all of Hutchinson, George (Debbie) McReynold of Turon, Jeffrey (Stephanie) McReynolds of Pretty Prairie; sister-in-law, Carol Skellenger of Hutchinson; 19 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, husband, Richard “Mac” McReynolds; son, Richard “Rick” McReynolds, Jr.; grandchildren, Joshua McReynolds and Gwenavere McReynolds; sisters, Elizabeth J. “Betty” (Floyd) Brubaker and Barbara (Keith) Hobbick; and brothers, Jerry Skellenger and Robert Skellenger.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2026, at Elliott Mortuary, with Chaplain Tom Faulkner officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
