Obituary

Edmund Vernard 'Ed' Manke, 88, of Hutchinson, died Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at his home in Hutchinson. He was born September 26, 1929, in Orlando, OK, the son of John H. and Pearl E. (Molz) Manke.

After graduating from high school, Ed served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Wichita State University and taught in the public schools for a number of years. Ed also sold insurance and worked other various jobs until taking a job as a station attendant for T&E Oil until his retirement. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

On June 12, 1965, Ed married ElVera Mae Schuman in Neodesha. She survives. Other survivors include: son, Jason and wife Kim; daughters, Janette Chambers and husband Joe, and Jolynn Dankert and husband Rodney, all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Josh Chambers (Ericah), Jacelyn Chambers, Taylor Manke, Jaron Manke, Trey Brown; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Luther, Arno, Donald, Paul, Carl, Norman; and sister, Zereda.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2018, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 407 E 12th Ave., Hutchinson, with the Reverend Henry Blickhahn officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
