SYLVIA - Edna Pearle Thompson, 100, died Feb. 23, 2007, at Stafford District Hospital.
She was born Aug. 29, 1906, in rural Reno County, west of Sylvia, the daughter of George Edward and Charlotte Dollie McComb Thompson. She graduated from Sylvia High School in 1924, attended Sterling College, received her undergraduate degree from Emporia State Teachers College and received her masters from Columbia University, New York, in 1945. A longtime Reno County resident, she taught school in Kansas City for 15 years and was a homemaker.
She belonged to Sylvia United Methodist Church and the Emporia State University Alumni Association.
Survivors include: several cousins.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Penwell Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Harry Graves presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
